Mayfair was launched by Fisk Publishing Ltd in 1966 with a cover date of August. The company was controlled by Brian Fisk. Its first editor was David Campbell and its first deputy was Graham Masterton. The magazine's second editor was veteran women's movement Kenneth Bund. In addition to nudity, Mayfair published short stories and serious articles about such "male" hobbies as classic cars, trains and military history.
